teaching approach

My classrooms are incubators for the future, where diversity of thought and inclusivity are not just encouraged but necessary for innovation.

At the heart of my teaching lies a belief in the transformative power of architecture. I guide students through the complexities of digital and sustainable design, emphasizing hands-on learning, critical thinking, and creative exploration. I strive to create a learning environment that transcends the traditional boundaries of the classroom, blending research with practical application.

I encourage my students to explore the potential of AI and other digital tools to foster designs that are not just aesthetically pleasing but are socially and environmentally responsive.

ACADEMIC CONTRIBUTIONS

I have had the privilege of serving as a NOMAS Faculty sponsor, fostering inclusivity and diversity within the architectural field. My role as a DEII Fellow underscores my dedication to creating a curriculum that not only teaches architectural principles but also instills a deep understanding and respect for cultural and environmental diversity.

In my teaching endeavors, I actively seek out collaborations that bridge theory and practice, such as with the Virginia Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired. These partnerships enrich the educational experience, offering students a real-world perspective on the impact of their work.
